Mike Easley reappointed Glenn E. Ketner, Jr. to the Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Board of Trustees. Ketner has been a member of the Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Board of Trustees since 1994. He is also a member of the Catawba College Board of Trustees. Ketner has extensive experience in the legal profession. In addition to operating his own private practice, Ketner served as counsel for the U.S. Senate Constitutional Rights Subcommittee and as a judge advocate in the United States Air Force. Ketner received his undergraduate degree and his law degree from Duke University. The board consists of 14 members. Six members are appointed by the county commissioner and four each by the Governor and the board of education. The main duties of the board are to elect a president to the institution; to employ all other personnel to the community college; to purchase land which is necessary for the operation of the college; to apply the standards for admission and graduation of the students of the institution; to receive and accept donations given to the community college; and to provide all or part of the instructional services for the institution. Easley is confident that the appointment of Ketner will support his commitment to maintaining a standard of excellence in North Carolina’s community colleges. ###
