EASLEY REAPPOINTS HARTSFIELD, BRASWELL AND SARVER TO INTERAGENCY COUNCIL FOR COORDINATING HOMELESS PROGRAMS RALEIGH – Gov. Mike Easley has reappointed Lori Hines Hartsfield of Wilson, Lorett Braswell of Rocky Mount and L. Lane Sarver of Chapel Hill to the Interagency Council for Coordinating Homeless Programs. Hartsfield is with the Pitt County Planning and community development programs. She is a commissioner with the City of Wilson Parks and Recreation Department, a past president of Wake Housing and Homeless Coalition and a member fo the Pitt County Continuum of Care. Hartsfield was named Pitt County Employee of the Quarter by the Pitt Post for January/February 2006. Hartsfield received her Bachelor’s degree in business administration management from Shaw University. Braswell is the Human Relations Director for the City of Rocky Mount Human Relations Department. She is the chairperson of United Community Ministry Board, vice-chairperson of the Lucy Ann Boddie Brewer Boys and Girls Club Advisory Board and secretary of the N.C. Chapter of the National Association of Human Rights Workers. Braswell received the Alpha Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Citizen of the Year Award in 2001 and the Chairperson Award for Edgecombe County Social Services Department in 2000. Braswell received her bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education from Winston-Salem State University. Sarver is the President and Principal Housing Consultant at Sarver Housing Group, Inc. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and American Institute of Architects. Sarver was awarded the N.C. Housing Finance Agency’s Housing N.C. Award for Elderly Housing in 2005. He received his Bachelor’s degree in sociology and architecture from Louisiana State University, his Master’s in city and regional planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a master’s in international housing and social change from the London School of Economics and Political Science. The council advises the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services on issues related to problems of persons who are homeless or at risk for becoming homeless, to identify and secure available resources and to recommend policy initiatives in carrying out programs to meet the needs of the homeless. There are 29 members on the board, each serving a three-year term. The governor appoints all members. ###
