EASLEY REAPPOINTS COLEY AND APPOINTS AMEND AND HARPER TO INTERAGENCY COUNCIL FOR HOMELESS PROGRAMS RALEIGH – Gov. Mike Easley has reappointed Sandra Gail Coley of Goldsboro and has appointed Patricia L. Amend of Raleigh and Angela Joy Harper of Zebulon to the North Carolina Interagency Council for Coordinating Homeless Programs. Coley is a community development specialist for the communicable disease control branch of the North Carolina Divison of Public Health. She serves on the Historian Committee for the Little Washington community and on the AmeriCorps Disability Advisory Committee. Coley is the assistant director of Christian Education at United American Free Will Baptist church and the treasurer for the Dillard Academy PTA. She received her Bachelor’s degree in religion and philosophy from Shaw University. Amend is director of policy, planning and technology for the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency. She is a certified public accountant and received her Bachelor’s degree in business accounting with a minor in decision science from Miami Univeristy in Oxford, Ohio. Harper is a housing specialist for the Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Services Division of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. She serves on the Association of Housing Counselors. Harper received the Wake County Caring, Serving and Respecting Customers Award in 2002 and 2003 and the Wake County Customer Service Award in 2004. She received her Bachelor’s degree in home economics, human development and family life from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennesee and her Master’s degree in clinical counseling from Webster University in St. Louis. The council advises the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services on issues related to problems of persons who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, identifies and secures available resources and recommends policy initiatives in carrying out programs to meet the needs of the homeless. There are 29 members on the council, each serving a three-year term. The governor appoints all members. ###
