BEVERLY EAVES PERDUE GOVERNOR MANUFACTURING MAKES IT REAL WEEK BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA A PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, manufacturing is the engine that drives North Carolina's economy and is vital to the state' s prosperity and progress; and WHEREAS, North Carolina is first in the Southeast and fifth in the United States in the manufacturing of goods and products; and WHEREAS, manufacturing employs more North Carolinians than any other business segment, more than half a million people, at wages higher than average; and _WHEREAS, products made by manufacturers account for 98 percent of exports; and WHEREAS, leading companies have established a presence in North Carolina because of our State' s commitment to supporting our manufacturing base; and WHEREAS, North Carolina manufacturers produce a wide variety of products, from circuit boards to chips and salsa; and WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina will promote and celebrate manufacturing the week of September 27 through October 1 as the North Carolina State University Industrial Extension Service crisscrosses the State, stopping at manufacturing sites to celebrate North Carolina products and the people who make them; NOW, THEREFORE, I, BEVERLY EAVES PERDUE, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim September 27 through October 1, 2010, as "MANUFACTURING MAKES IT REAL WEEK" in North Carolina, and urge all citizens to recognize the importance of manufacturing to our State' s economy and well-being, and to take pride in the wide diversity of products made in North Carolina. BEVERLY EA YES PERDUE IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina at the Capitol in Raleigh this twenty-second day of September in the year of our Lord two thousand and ten, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-fifth.
