Traffic volumes along this part o f I nnes S t reet ex c eed 10,000 vehicles per day. A minor arterial route pass i ng through the S tud y Are a i s f o rmed by Old Wi lkesboro Road and Mon r oe S treet. Traffic v ol umes along this route amoun t t o se veral hun d r ed vehicl es per day. Traffic volumes along 601 Bypass, the western b ounda ry o f the area, average approx imatel y 3, 000 vehicles per day. Thoroughfares within the Are a 4 a re generally in v ery bad condition. Man y o f the Are a's s tr e et s are unpaved, ext~emel y narrow and poorl y platted. Thi s condition h as contributed to the blight which is f o u nd in the Area. Acces s between the developed parts o f the Ar ea and 601 Bypass i s poor. It h as a d e s i gn capacity o f 57 0 students and an enrollment o f 585. Monroe S treet S chool provides pla y ground spa ce f or the Are a's resi den ces. The p rinci pal def iciency at this faci l ity i s the ina dequa te site size o f only three acres. Pric e High Sch oo l - Pri ce High S chool ( Negro) has a design capacit y o f 540 s tud ents and an en r o llment o f 511 s~udent s in grades 7 thr oug h 12. It s erves the entire Ne gro secondar y s cho ol populat i on o f Sal i sb ury. The p hy s ic a l plant is well maintained and is loca t ed on a 12 acre s i te. S idewalks a r e critically needed in the vici nit y o f this school.
