If you are installing mon-itoring wells for these permits, here are some tips to keep in mind: • When installing monitoring wells for non-discharge permits, contact your Regional Office for approval at least 48 hours prior to the in-stallation. The monitoring wells are installed prior to beginning waste disposal operations. • On the GW-1 form (Well Construc-tion Record), and the GW-30 form (Well Abandonment Record), list the Non-Discharge permit number (item #2) and the appropriate mon-itoring well identification number. (item # 4 and 6a respectively) • Both the GW-1 and GW-30 forms are required to be submitted within 30 days. [15A NCAC 02C .0114(b)(2)] For non-discharge permit moni-toring wells, in addition to the sub-mittal addresses noted on the forms please also send a copy to the Non-Discharge Permitting Unit at: Division of Water Resources Non-Discharge Permitting Unit 1617 Mail Service Center Raleigh, NC 27699-1617 • Make sure you are using a current form. Well Records Submitted By WCC Staff Number of GW-1 Well Construction Records submitted to the State (DEQ / Information Processing Unit) in 2016: ~4,450 (in 2015: ~8,150) Current number of NC certified well contractors with employer listed as be-ing based in NC: _898_ = average number of wells installed per driller in North Carolina per year: 5-9 Does that number seem low? Are you submitting all of your GW-1’s as required? NGWA Groundwater Week By WCC Staff The National Ground Water Association (NGWA) will be holding their biggest groundwater event of the year, “Groundwater Week”, in Nashville, Tennes-see this year. Groundwater Week is an annual con-ference featuring education, exhibits, and networking with the industry’s finest from around the world. A fat-berg is formed when people put things they shouldn’t down sinks and toilets. Make sure to include the CE PIN# on the WCC-8b form. The CE PIN# is posted on the Pre-Approved Courses list online at wellcontractors.nc.gov on the Continuing Education page. This unique number is assigned to a course when it is approved. Course ap-provals expire at the end of each certification period (June 30) so if you take the same course again the following certification period you will notice the CE PIN# has changed.
