The manner ot conducting the business of the corporation, the names and number of officers, shall be iixed by the by-laws of tlie company, which shall be agreed to in general meeting of the stockholders, and may be altered or changed by a majority vote ot the stoi.-kholders at any meet-ing called and advertised thirty days lor that purpose. Sec. 4. This act is hereby declared to be a public act and shall be in force from and after its ratiiication. Eatified the 6th day of April, A. D. 1871. CHAPTER CXI Corporators. Name. Privileges. When act to be in force. AN ACT TO INCORPORATE THE INDEPENDENT ORDER OF GOOD TEMPLARS, OF NEWBERN, NORTH CAROLINA. Section 1. TU General Assemlly of North Carolina do enact. That Geo. B. Willis, George Physick, Yirgil A. Crawtord, William W. Lawrence, Daniel H. Harris, L. S. Hill, Peter W. Lawrence, John B. Willis, Jas. D. Dudley, John W. Brown, Lewis Williams, Moses T. Bryan and Ed-ward R. Dudley, their associates, successors and assigns are hereby constituted a body politic and corporate by the name and style of the Independent Order of Good Templars, of Newborn, North Carolina, for the purpose of promoting the temperance cause. Sec. 2. And by that name they shall have perpetual suc-cession and may sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, and have a common seal, and in general exercise and enjoy all rights as are usually enjoyed by corporate bodies ot a like nature. Sec. 3. This act shall be in force from and alter its ratifi-cation. Ratified the Gth day of April, A. D. 1S71.
