76 Document No. 9. [Session suits, i:nin ctions, etc., I have no assurance of a definite time as to having the School Law published—hence this letter. The Supervisor will hold his office and discharge his oflBcial duties until the end of the school year, or until his successor, the County Superintendent of Schools, is elected and qualified. Tlie County Superintendent of Schools will be elected by the County Board of Directors on the second Monday in July. The County Supervisor can not do any visiting of schools since? the 7th of March, because there has not existed a County Board of Education since that date under whose supervision this work must have been done in order to be in accordance with law. The new County Board of Directors will allow the County Super-visor pay for his services actually rendered in public school work since 7th of March, such as examination of teachers, signing vouch-ers, etc. ; such compensation as was allowed by law by the County Boards of Education. It would be well for the County Supervisor to meet with the County Boards of Education and County Boards of Directors on the second Monday in April and assist in every way possible to make clear and plain matters of record as to the public schools and give all the Information possible, so that the school interest and work will not be injured by change of officers. The Township Committees will sign orders of teachers' salaries to finish up contracts made with teachers tor the schools now in operation. These orders to be endorsed by the County Supervisor as heretofore. This, I think, is sufficient information for you until your succes-sors are elected and qualified. Yours truly, C. H.
