EASLEY REAPPOINTS HODGES AND MONROE TO HISTORIC BATH COMMISSION Raleigh - Gov. Mike Easley has reappointed Betsey Lee Hodges of Washington and Blanche Kammer Monroe of Bath to the Historic Bath Commission. Hodges is the director of Occupational Extension/HRD at Beaufort County Community College. She is a certified program planner for the Learning Resource Network and has her national certification in customer service from the National Retail Federation Foundation. Hodges is the past state president and past national southern division vice president for the American Legion Auxiliary and a past board member of the Coastal Carolina Girl Scout Council. She received the Staff Member of the Year award in 1992-1993. Hodges received a Bachelor’s degree in health and physical education and a Master’s degree in health and physical education at East Carolina University. Monroe is a professional artist. She is former president of the Historic Bath Garden Club and a member of the Historic Bath Foundation. Monroe received her Bachelor’s degree in primary education and her Master’s degree of fine arts in painting and drawing from East Carolina University. The commission duties are to acquire, dispose, restore and maintain historic properties in and near the Town of Bath in Beaufort County and to assist and advise the secretary of the Department of Cultural Resources on the administration of the Bath State Historic Site. The commission has 28 members, each serving a five-year term. The governor appoints 25 members. The mayor of Bath, chairman of the Beaufort County Board of Commissioners and secretary of Cultural Resources also serve on the commission. ###
