EASLEY ANNOUNCES 50 JOBS IN NASH COUNTY $25,000 One North Carolina Fund Grant Helps R.W. & Able Relocate To N.C. RALEIGH – Gov. Mike Easley today announced that R.W. & Able Inc, of Chico, CA, a manufacturing company for the hot rod car and truck markets, will relocate to North Carolina and open a facility in Rocky Mount. The company will create 50 new jobs and invest $2.1 million over the next three years. The announcement was made possible in part by a $25,000 One North Carolina Fund grant. “R.W. & Able’s decision to relocate to North Carolina will mean 50 new, skilled jobs for the hardworking people of Nash County,” Easley said. “We are the 9th leading state for employment in the plastics industry and this company’s new facility will further strengthen our state’s reputation in this industry.” The Rocky Mount facility will continue normal operations of R.W. & Able Inc, which supplies thermoformed plastic parts and seats for automotive interiors. While wages will vary by job function, the expected average weekly wage of the new jobs is $585, which is higher Nash County average of $476, not including benefits. “North Carolina’s highly experienced workforce in plastics production will enable us to attract and retain skilled workers,” said Blaine Roberts, owner of R.W. & Able Inc. “Eighty percent of our customers are on the East coast and this relocation will allow us to reduce delivery times and costs, providing direct savings to our customers.” The One North Carolina Fund assists the state in industry recruitment and expansion by providing financial assistance through local governments to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state. One North Carolina Fund grants require and are contingent upon a local match. Through the use of this Fund, more than 18,000 jobs and $2.5 billion in investment have been created since 2001. Other partners who helped make this announcement possible include the N.C. Department of Commerce, North Carolina’s Eastern Region, the Gateway Partnership, the City of Rocky Mount and Nash County.
