Mike Easley appointed one new member and reappointed three members to the North Carolina Forestry Council. Easley appointed Dale Richard Mosteller of Waynesville, an employee of Duke Power who currently manages 11 lakes in western North Carolina that are owned by Duke Power. Mosteller has been an active member of the North Carolina Wildlife Federation for over 20 years, serving for four years as the western vice president and as president from 1998-2000. He has previously served as a member of the North Carolina Wildlife Commission. Easley reappointed John F. Lentz of Ellerbe, owner of Lentz Realty and Forestry and active member of the North Carolina Wildlife Federation; James Keith McCollum of Rockingham, a forester and procurement manager with Edwards Wood Products, Scotland and a member of the Society of American Foresters; and Luther Franklin Anderson of Jefferson, who retired from the North Carolina Forest Service and has previously served on the board. The North Carolina Forestry Council advises the Department of Environment and Natural Resources on all matters concerning the protection, management and preservation of state-owned, privately owned and municipally owned forests. The council must maintain oversight of a continuous monitoring and planning process, provide a forum for the identification, discussion and development of recommendations and undertake studies and make reports as directed. The council has 18 members, and the Governor appoints 10. Each member serves a four-year term. ###
