EASLEY ANNOUNCES 50 JOBS IN NASH COUNTY One North Carolina Fund Grant Helps Amerlink Expand In Battleboro RALEIGH-Gov. Mike Easley today announced that AmerLink Ltd., maker of handcrafted custom-made and manufactured log homes, will expand in Nash County, creating 50 jobs and investing $1.8 million during the next three years. The announcement was made possible in part by a $50,000 One North Carolina Fund grant. “AmerLink’s decision brings more good-paying jobs to Nash County,” Easley said. “Businesses recognize North Carolina’s focused and innovative state and community partnerships make our state a place where firms can expand and be successful.” AmerLink Ltd. is the parent company of the “In the Woods” brand of log home packages for the residential and commercial markets. The company will expand its headquarters in Battleboro with the addition of telemarketing positions along with design and planning staff. While wages will vary by job function, the average weekly wage of the new jobs will be $838 plus benefits which is more than the Nash County average weekly wage of $531 not including benefits. AmerLink also has sales centers in New York, Tennessee and Virginia. “We’ve sold more than 5,000 homes to date, and are recognized as one of the leading log home companies in the country,” said John Barth, CEO for AmerLink Ltd. “The decision to expand our Nash County headquarters enables us to provide more jobs for the local workforce as we scale the business to meet strong and sustained sales growth.” The One North Carolina Fund assists the state in industry recruitment and expansion by providing financial assistance through local governments to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state. One North Carolina Fund grants require and are contingent upon a local match. Through the use of this Fund, more than 25,000 jobs and $3.5 billion in investment have been created since 2001. “I have worked in the state Senate to develop policies that encourage businesses to grow and expand in North Carolina,” said state Sen. A.B. Swindell (D-Nash). “I am also pleased with the cooperation between state and local agencies as well as non-profits that are critical to making companies feel welcome in our area.” Other partners who helped make this announcement possible include the N.C. Department of Commerce, Nash County, City of Rocky Mount, Carolinas Gateway Partnership, North Carolina's Eastern Region, North Carolina Rural Center and the Golden LEAF Foundation.
