the north-carolina gazette vol 6 saturday september 24 175^1 ar 7 * 298 united states of americ1.1 north carolina district j whereas wm h hill efq •, attorney of the uni:ed states in and for the diftritt of north-caro lina this 22d day of september in the year of american independence the xvith exhibited his libel before tbe hon john si-greaves judge of the court of the united states in the north-carolina dil.rict againil two puncheons containing two hundred and fifty gallons of rum and the rum contained therein f i.zed by the de puty co!lc&or of the port of eden ton within f<"i*i diftrift for hiving i**een tound within the faid port land ed and not having been duly entered in the proper office and infpe&ed according to law no duties having been paid thereon according to the ftatutes of the congrefs of the unit ad states and rhe faid attorney praying in his faid libel that tne judge aforefaid hould appoint a time and place for holding a couir when and where he fhould condemn the fame and decree thereon accord ing to law this is therefore to no * tice all perfons whom fiie fame may concern that the hon john sit greaves efq ; judge of the diftricl court of the united states for the diftrift of north-carolina has di rected a court to be held at newbern on saturday the eighth day of octo ber next j when the confideration of the libel exhibited as aforefaid will be had and all perfons having claim to the articles libelled or concerned therein are hereby cited and admo nifhed to appear on the 8th day of o&ober aforefaid at the court afore faid and hew caufe if any they have why the prayer of the libellant may not be granted and the articles con demned witnefs abner neale clerk of the faid court at newbern the 2_d day f september 179l atteft abner neale clerk for philadelphia the f aft failing shop rebecca william ryan mafter ; moil ufed to making axes he ftoops forward in his knees and body as if he had a bur then on his back — his back is marked with the whip he has a fear on one of his elbows occafioned by a burn ; has fmall legs and very large feet — has a bold look fpeaks good englifh and can tell a fmooth tale — born on trent ri ver — he had on and took with him the following clothes viz one blue great coat dyed in the cloth and turn ed whitifh where it is worn middling fine cloth alfo a tight bodied coat with holes at the elbows and under the arms and a rent in one fhouldcr ;
