aud no one can tell the exact point of time when a cure becomes impossi ble delay is hazardous in the extreme how to cure cancers the remedies for cancer have been as numerous as the drugs in the materia raedi ca for scarcely a vegetable or mineral pois on can be mentioned wliich has not at some time been recommended as a sure cure for this dreadful disease quacks have gather ed a rich harvest of filthy lucre from the hope ess victims of this disease ; and they still do a most thriving business iu the same line the nnmerous remedies for cancer have attained celebrity by their apparent cure of diseases which were not cancer though pro nounced so by the proprietors ofthe nostrums cundurango sarsaparilla clover blossoms and sundry otlier herbs which in many eases were wholly inert have each enjoyed its season of popularity as a remedy for cancer at one time a certain spiing iu new york england became greatly renowned f r the healing influence said to he exerted by its waters upon cancer hundreds resorted t it not one in twenty of whom had the disease there were of course numerous cures cu rious doctors sought to unravel the secret of this wondeiful spring by an analysis of its waters the analysis made by expert chemists determined ihe fact that the only peculiarity of the water was its remarkable purity it was soft and pure thestrange perversity of human nature is clearly mani fested in the fact that as soon as this became known the patronage of the spring ceased ; and its waters are uo longer included iu the list of cancer remedies 1 the chemist had discovered a little iodine or osmium orsul phureted hydrogen or some other poison very likely a thousand quacks would have seized the idea and soon hooded the market wiih as many patent compounds warranted to contain the poison iu a concentrated and purified form and the spring would have retained its notoriety the only remedy wliich offers any chance for cure is destruction of the cancerous growth if this is done thoroughly while the disease is oufined to a small portion of the body a cure is almost certain the agents which effect tiiis iu a thorough man ner are electricity caustics freezing and re moval wih the knife the lasl method is most in favor with the best surgeons ; caus tics are the remedies employed almost en tirely hy quacks in the hands of skilled operators electricity and freezing hav each proved successful method caustics are al so often successful ; there are two r three which are especially elfecii'.e the great aim is of course to destroy all the diseased tissue there are special cases which can be best treated with each of the remedies mentioned iu general the remedy which will the most effectually remove the morbid tissues is the best remedy it should be mentioned that although can cer is at first a local disease and although this local disease may be cured yet there still remain iu tl.e system the predisposing causes which at first produced the disease from these causes a new cancer may be de veloped either in the same or in a remote portion ofthe body can anything be done fur cancer when it has become incurable ,' yes ; much may be doiie the paiu may be relieved the gen eral health and strength maintained aud iu many eases the disease may be stayed per haps for many years by the use f appro priate measures the experience of learned english physicians has established the fact that a vegetarian diet is one of the ino.-t po tent agencies iu staying the ravages of eau cer the other health-giving agents which the hygienic system affords are also of the greatest utility in the same direction eh c 1 tricity is a most ehheiit remedy for the j pain occasioned by the disease we cannot leave the subject without one or two cautions to our readers 1 do not be frightened int the belief that you have cancer when yoa have not do not inspect and irritate by pinching and pricking every little mole or disc iloration ofthe skin that may he found npon tlie face donot imagine every little twitching tina liug smarting burning or crawring sen sation of the skin to be cancer these methods persisted in would be almost sulli cient of themselves to produce tiie disease still if there is plain evidence cf the disease give the matter attention at once 2 have nothing to do with quacks or pat ent nostrums cancer doctors are a curse to humanity they get their reputa tion hy imposing upon the credulity of igno rant people not one tumor in twenty is a cancer : aud yet these rascals seldom fail to pronounce every tumor which comes under ilieir observation a cancer it is very v to cure a simply tumor and so they soon ac quire a wide reputation the diagnosis of the disease is not always an easy matter a microscopic examination sometimes being necessary a 20,000 offer for a wife some years since while tarrying at shanghai and hong kong the writer be came acquainted with mr king head of the highly respectable firm of messrs king & co doing business at shanghai mr king had recently returned from the united states where he bad funned an alliance with a blooming young lady the daughter of a presbyterian clergyman residing near boston who after the nup tial ceremony had been performed accom panied her lord to the celestial empire un their way they stopped for a few d ivs at hong kong after ensconcing them selves in comfortable quarters the couple were visited by a rich mandarin the latter regarded the lady very attentively and seemed to dwell with delight on ber movements when mrs king at length left the apartment he said to her bus in broken english worse that broken china what you give for that wifey — wife ol yours l ob replied the hus band laughing at the singular error of his visitor 610,000 this the mer chant thought would appear to the chi naman rather a high figure but lis was mistaken well said the mandarin taking out his book v ith an air of busi ness s'pose you give her to me i give you 15,000 lt is difficult to say whether mr king was more amazed than amused ; aud no one can tell the exact point of time when a cure becomes impossi ble delay is hazardous in the extreme how to cure cancers the remedies for cancer have been as numerous as the drugs in the materia raedi ca for scarcely a vegetable or mineral pois on can be mentioned wliich has not at some time been recommended as a sure cure for this dreadful disease quacks have gather ed a rich harvest of filthy lucre from the hope ess victims of this disease ; and they still do a most thriving business iu the same line the nnmerous remedies for cancer have attained celebrity by their apparent cure of diseases which were not cancer though pro nounced so by the proprietors ofthe nostrums cundurango sarsaparilla clover blossoms and sundry otlier herbs which in many eases were wholly inert have each enjoyed its season of popularity as a remedy for cancer at one time a certain spiing iu new york england became greatly renowned f r the healing influence said to he exerted by its waters upon cancer hundreds resorted t it not one in twenty of whom had the disease there were of course numerous cures cu rious doctors sought to unravel the secret of this wondeiful spring by an analysis of its waters the analysis made by expert chemists determined ihe fact that the only peculiarity of the water was its remarkable purity it was soft and pure thestrange perversity of human nature is clearly mani fested in the fact that as soon as this became known the patronage of the spring ceased ; and its waters are uo longer included iu the list of cancer remedies 1 the chemist had discovered a little iodine or osmium orsul phureted hydrogen or some other poison very likely a thousand quacks would have seized the idea and soon hooded the market wiih as many patent compounds warranted to contain the poison iu a concentrated and purified form and the spring would have retained its notoriety the only remedy wliich offers any chance for cure is destruction of the cancerous growth if this is done thoroughly while the disease is oufined to a small portion of the body a cure is almost certain the agents which effect tiiis iu a thorough man ner are electricity caustics freezing and re moval wih the knife the lasl method is most in favor with the best surgeons ; caus tics are the remedies employed almost en tirely hy quacks in the hands of skilled operators electricity and freezing hav each proved successful method caustics are al so often successful ; there are two r three which are especially elfecii'.e the great aim is of course to destroy all the diseased tissue there are special cases which can be best treated with each of the remedies mentioned iu general the remedy which will the most effectually remove the morbid tissues is the best remedy it should be mentioned that although can cer is at first a local disease and although this local disease may be cured yet there still remain iu tl.e system the predisposing causes which at first produced the disease from these causes a new cancer may be de veloped either in the same or in a remote portion ofthe body can anything be done fur cancer when it has become incurable ,' yes ; much may be doiie the paiu may be relieved the gen eral health and strength maintained aud iu many eases the disease may be stayed per haps for many years by the use f appro priate measures the experience of learned english physicians has established the fact that a vegetarian diet is one of the ino.-t po tent agencies iu staying the ravages of eau cer the other health-giving agents which the hygienic system affords are also of the greatest utility in the same direction eh c 1 tricity is a most ehheiit remedy for the j pain occasioned by the disease we cannot leave the subject without one or two cautions to our readers 1 do not be frightened int the belief that you have cancer when yoa have not do not inspect and irritate by pinching and pricking every little mole or disc iloration ofthe skin that may he found npon tlie face donot imagine every little twitching tina liug smarting burning or crawring sen sation of the skin to be cancer these methods persisted in would be almost sulli cient of themselves to produce tiie disease still if there is plain evidence cf the disease give the matter attention at once 2 have nothing to do with quacks or pat ent nostrums cancer doctors are a curse to humanity they get their reputa tion hy imposing upon the credulity of igno rant people not one tumor in twenty is a cancer : aud yet these rascals seldom fail to pronounce every tumor which comes under ilieir observation a cancer it is very v to cure a simply tumor and so they soon ac quire a wide reputation the diagnosis of the disease is not always an easy matter a microscopic examination sometimes being necessary a 20,000 offer for a wife some years since while tarrying at shanghai and hong kong the writer be came acquainted with mr king head of the highly respectable firm of messrs king & co doing business at shanghai mr king had recently returned from the united states where he bad funned an alliance with a blooming young lady the daughter of a presbyterian clergyman residing near boston who after the nup tial ceremony had been performed accom panied her lord to the celestial empire un their way they stopped for a few d ivs at hong kong after ensconcing them selves in comfortable quarters the couple were visited by a rich mandarin the latter regarded the lady very attentively and seemed to dwell with delight on ber movements when mrs king at length left the apartment he said to her bus in broken english worse that broken china what you give for that wifey — wife ol yours l ob replied the hus band laughing at the singular error of his visitor 610,000 this the mer chant thought would appear to the chi naman rather a high figure but lis was mistaken well said the mandarin taking out his book v ith an air of busi ness s'pose you give her to me i give you 15,000 lt is difficult to say whether mr king was more amazed than amused ;
