The family name first appears amoung the records of Chowan
County Book F No 1, page 381, in a Power of Attorney from Thomas
Besy to William Badham and thomas Parris, the witon-
ment is filed in 1719.
the next item is found in the records of Albemarle County
Court at Edenton, N.C. "Suit of Wm. Badham a
merchant of Pasquitank Preceinct, against Wm. Custer (1720)
William Badham next apears in a deed in Book C. No. 1
Page 11). from the Commissioners of the Town of Edenton, N.C. for lots
in said Town 1722, then follow deeds to him from various persons
as follows.
Robert Hick, to Wm. Badham 50 acres land adjoining 'Town of Edenton'.

As one of the Commissioners in Edenton in 1722.
In his was right in 1723, 1724, 1729, & 1733.
From the above transactions was[text illegible] of his family history
we have filed from the Court and Assembly records that he was a
member of the House of Burgesses from Chowan, one of the Justices
of the precinct Court, and a Commissioner of the Town
of Edenton.
