William Hinton born in Chowan Precinct 1750 died here. (William Smith Hinton
baptized in Old Trinity Church New York) Dec. 7, 1783. He went North [crossed out]
to New York was married to Phoebe Smith�who was born on Long Island New York
1749 and died July 8, 1788
(My Grandfather)
Their son William Smith Hinton was born Nov. 10, 1772 in New York and died
in Pasquotank Co. Dec. 23, 1827. He married Polly Richardson -born in
Pasquotank Co. N.C. and died there Dec. 10, 1837. Date of marriage Jan. 5,
1797.
William Hinton, Sr. was one of the Vestrymen of St. Paul's Church Edenton N.C.
who signed the "Test" or Declaration of Independence, promising to maintain
and support in every way all the Acts, Resolutions and Regulation of the said.

N. C. His name appears on the Plaque in side the church at Edenton.
