Jordan and Carrison Families Thomas Jordan.- came from England, 1630, settled on Manhattan, Is. N.Y. Became dissatisfied and moved to Maryland. John Jordan, I., Son, moved [inserted: 1675] to Hyde Co., N.C., others setteld in Va. One son John II - daughters married into Russell, Latham families. Other descendants are Havons, Marches, and Fowles of Washington Co., N.C. John Jordan, II maried Miss South, blind merchange ship builder. Two sones - Thomas, John III. [second column] one daughter m. Mr Jones of Norfolk, Va. - connected with the Archers and Butts of Va, another daughter, m. a Mr. Crittenden. had a son, John Jordan C of Ky. Thomas Jordan - son of John II m. Miss Blount 1st, 2nd Julia Miller children: George and Seth moved to Tenn.; Amanda; Henry (Ala); William m. Miss Howdy [sic] - John, Eliz. who m. James W. Pritchett of Brunswick, N.C. John Jordan III, son of John II (1736-1778) m. Elizabeth Smith (1738-1834) lived to nearly 100 with [third column] unimpaired faculties. Commisoned Major by Kiing Active in Rev. delegate to Halifax Cov. which declared Independence, moved to Pitt Co., 1778. delegate to Pitt Co. Conv settled on plantation name Jordan Plains Had 5 children. Son Valentine lived at Jordan Plains, so did his son; Daniel Wm. who m. Emily Tuttle where his first three c. were born. 1848 he moved to Little River S.C. - there acquired large tract of land, sold and moved to Laurel Hill 1860. Margaret (who m. Henry George Carrison) probably born at Little River. Moved to Camden, 1864. [fourth column] CARRISON George and Henry of Scotch-Irish parentage came to Am. 1845 from Co. down Ireland. Henry went to Cal. 1849 George settled in Columbia. His wife Elizabeth was [inserted: buried in Trinity ch. yard] Scotch woman. He was a bridge engineer drowned when building bridge over Broad river (1868) at Alston. she died 1860. a daughter Margaret, age 12, buried in Meth. Ch yead, Sol. Son Henry George taking name of father and uncle was born May 9, 1851 - left orphan at 9. wnet to Camden 1866. m. 1/3/78 Margaret Eliza Jordan---merchant, planter, banker, founded textile mill, 3 times Mayor of Camden.
